I am Tejas Thakker, a freelance Casting Director with over 15 years of dedicated experience in the entertainment industry. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working across a variety of mediums, from the traditional to the contemporary, ensuring that my casting expertise remains relevant and adaptable to the ever-evolving landscape of film, television, and digital platforms. My journey began with casting for print and TV commercials, but it has since expanded to include feature films, short films, and web series. In this extensive journey, I have been involved in casting more than 500 television commercials and have worked on some critically acclaimed feature films and projects.

My filmography includes well-regarded feature films like Newton, Sherni, Roohi, Kaamyaab, and Khudahafiz, where I’ve been instrumental in identifying and securing the right talent for the roles. I was also part of the team that cast the web series The Last Hour, which streamed on Amazon Prime Video in 2021. Each of these projects offered unique challenges, but my focus has always been on ensuring that every role, no matter how big or small, is performed by actors who elevate the story and deliver compelling performances.

One philosophy that I firmly believe in is that strong supporting actors are just as important as the lead cast. I resonate deeply with the quote from Alexandra Bracken: "It doesn't matter how great the lead cast is if the supporting actors don't back them up." The secondary characters often carry the weight of a film or series on their shoulders, contributing significantly to the depth and richness of the story. A weak supporting cast can undermine the entire project, which is why I take the casting of each role with equal seriousness and consideration.

My experience in the industry has also taught me the importance of collaboration. Casting is a deeply collaborative process that involves understanding the director’s vision, working closely with producers, and aligning with the overall goals of the production. I’ve always valued the relationships I’ve built within the industry, as they have not only enriched my professional journey but also contributed to the success of the projects I’ve been a part of.

I’m constantly driven by the challenge of finding new and exciting talent, and I take pride in discovering actors who may not yet be widely recognized but have the potential to bring a role to life in ways that exceed expectations. As a Casting Director, I remain committed to ensuring that every character in a production, whether lead or supporting, is portrayed by an actor who enhances the story and delivers an unforgettable performance.
